Acera


Today's WOTD is: "acera" = pavement/ sidewalk

In Spanish, the noun "acera" is a feminine noun of Latin origin the main meaning of which is pavement/ sidewalk. The Spanish noun “acera” may also be used to refer to each one of the sides of a street.

Some commonly used expressions containing the words "acera" are:
  • Ser de la acera de enfrente (to be gay);


Some examples of the use of the word "acera" are:
  • Delante de mi casa la acera es muy estrecha (the pavement/ sidewalk is very narrow in front of my house).
  • Tú y yo vivimos en la misma acera (you and I live on the same side of the street);
  • Pedro es de la acera de enfrente (Pedro is gay).
