Introduction
This
post deals with talking about the past
in general, and more specifically with stating the
time
at which a flight arrived.
Imagine
you are talking to
a relative, a friend or a work colleague about what you did
yesterday, when you flew back home from holiday. At some point, the
other person says:
"at
what time did the flight arrive?"
In
Spanish, the other person could say:
¿A
qué hora llegó el vuelo?
OUR
TIP
Answering
is quite straightforward. Just make sure that you use the right time
expression*.
Here
are some examples of how you could reply:
- Llegó a la una y media (it arrived at a half past one)
- Llegó a las cinco y diez (it arrived at ten past five)
- Llegó a las siete en punto (it arrived at seven o'clock)
- No sé a qué hora llegó (I don't know at what time it arrived)

Please
note the difference between the expressions of time used in these
answers and typical expressions used in telling the time, such as:
- Es la una y media (it is half past one)
- Son las dos y veinte (it is twenty minutes past two)
- No sé qué hora es (I don't know what time it is)
