Introduction
This
post deals with time
in general, and more specifically with the
time,
at which a flight, for example, departs.
SCENARIO
Imagine
you
are talking to a relative, a friend or colleague about a flight you
have planned or you are both just about to catch. The other person
doesn't know the flight departure time and
says to you: "at
what
time does the flight leave?"
In
Spanish, the other person could choose to say:
¿A
qué hora sale el vuelo?
OUR
TIP
The
question is an invitation for you to state at what time your flight
leaves. Your reply should depend only on whether you:
- Know at what time your flight is due to depart
- Don't know when the flight will leave
Here
are a couple of examples of how you could reply:
- Sale a la una y cuarto (it leaves at 1:15)
- No sé a qué hora sale (I don't know when it leaves)
*Notes
Please note the difference between the expressions of time used in these answers and typical expressions used in telling the time, such as:
- Es la una y media (it is half past one)
- No sé qué hora es (I don't know what time it is)
Now
you should practise answering the question:
¿A
qué hora sale el vuelo?
