Introduction
This
post deals with time
in general, and more specifically with the
time,
at which something, for example a football match, ends.
SCENARIO
Imagine
you
are talking to a relative, a friend or colleague about going to a
football/ soccer game. The other person doesn't know at what time the
game finishes and
says to you: "at
what
time does the game finish?"
In
Spanish, the other person could say:
¿A
qué hora termina el partido?
OUR
TIP
The question is an
invitation for you to say when the game finishes. Your reply depends
only on whether you:
- Know at what time the game finishes
- Don't know at what time the game ends
Here are a couple
of examples of how you could reply:
- El partido termina a las diez (the game finishes at 10:00)
- No sé a qué hora termina el partido (I don't know at what time the game ends)
*Notes
Please note the difference between the expressions of time used in these answers and typical expressions used in telling the time, such as:
- Es la una y media (it is half past one)
- No sé qué hora es (I don't know what time it is)
Now
you should practise answering the question:
¿A
qué hora termina el partido?
