Introduction
This
post deals with shopping
in general, and with things you may want to buy in a shoe
shop
in particular.
Imagine
you
are talking to a relative, a friend or colleague. You are about to go
shopping. and are making a shopping list. The other person
says to you: "what
are you going to buy in the shoe shop?"
In
Spanish, the other person could choose to be less formal and say:
¿Qué
vas a comprar en la tienda de calzados?
Alternatively,
he/ she could choose to be more formal and say:
¿Qué
va a comprar (usted) en la tienda de calzados?
OUR
TIP
Answering
is quite straightforward. Naming something you can buy in a shoe
shop should be sufficient. You may also want to indicate the
colour, the size or the material your intended purchase is made off.
Here are some
examples of what you could buy in a shoe shop:
- Un par de zapatos (a pair of shoes).
- Unas zapatillas (sneakers/ slippers/ trainers).
- Unas sandalias (sandals).
- Unos zapatos negros (black shoes).
- Unas zapatillas blancas (white sneakers/ slippers/ trainers).
- Unas sandalias marrones (brown sandals).
- Unas botas negras (black boots).
- Unos zapatos de piel (leather shoes).
- Unas zapatillas de lona (canvas sneakers/ trainers).
- Unas sandalias de cuero (leather sandals).
- Unas botas de goma (rubber boots/ wellies).
Now
you should practise answering the question:
¿Qué
vas a comprar en la tienda de calzados?
