Introduction
This
post showcases/ highlights a typical use of the verb tener*.
SCENARIO
Imagine
you are talking to a relative, a friend or a work colleague
about the need to get a move on.
At
some point, the other person says:
"who
is in a hurry?"
In
Spanish, the other person could choose to say:
¿Quién
tiene prisa?
OUR
TIP
Answering
this question should be straightforward. Naming the person who is in
a hurry may be sufficient. However, you may use the expression tener
prisa to make your answer more informative.
Here
are some examples of how you could use that expression:
- Yo tengo prisa (I am in a hurry);
- Tú tienes prisa, ¿no? (you are in a hurry, aren't you);
- Nadie tiene prisa (nobody is in a hurry);
- Pedro tiene mucha prisa (Pedro is very much in a hurry);
- María tiene mucha prisa (María is very much in a hurry);
- Nosotros todos tenemos prisa (we are all in a hurry);
- Pedro y María tienen prisa (Pedro and María are in a hurry);
Now
you should practise answering the question:
¿Quién
tiene prisa?
