Alumno

Today's WOTD is: "alumno" = student

1. In Spanish, “alumno” is a masculine* noun of Latin origin, the main meaning of which is student, as in:
  • Todos los alumnos asistieron a clase hoy (all students attended today's lesson);

*NB A female student would be “alumna



2. Some expressions with the word “alumno” are:
  • Alumno activo (current/ enrolled/ active student);
  • Alumno de las musas (poet);
  • Alumno interno (boarder);
  • Alumno cumplidor (reliable student);
