Garduña


Today's WOTD is: "garduña" = marten

In Spanish, the noun "garduña" is a feminine noun of Pre-Roman origin which means marten.

The Spanish words “garduño”/ “garduña” could also be used to mean a male or female skilful and surreptitious thief/ pickpocket respectively.


Some examples of the use of the word "garduña" are:
  • La garduña es un manífero depredador nocturno (the marten is a nocturnal predatory mammal);
  • Un garduño me robó la cartera en el autobús (a pickpocket stole my wallet on the bus);
