Aldea

Today's WOTD is: "aldea" = hamlet


In Spanish, “aldea” is a feminine noun of Arabic origin, the main meaning of which is hamlet or small village, as in:
  • Al anochecer, llegamos a una aldea (at dusk, we reached a hamlet/ small village);



A related describing word/ adjective is “aldeano”/ “aldeana”, which means village/ villager, and could also mean rustic, crude or uncultured.
