Imagine
you are talking to
a relative, a friend or colleague. You are talking about your
studies. The other person
says to you something like: "when
do you study Spanish?"
In
Spanish, the other person could choose to be less formal and say:
¿Cuándo
estudias español?
Alternatively,
he/ she could choose to be more formal and say:
¿Cuándo
estudia (usted) español?
The question is an
invitation for you to say when study Spanish. When you say when you
do something in particular, you DO NOT need to be concerned
about the level of formality in the other person's question. Your
main concern should be about saying when you study Spanish.
Here
are some examples of how you could reply:
- Estudio español los martes (I study Spanish on Tuesdays);
- Estudio español por la tarde (I study Spanish in the afternoon);
- Estudio español a las siete de la tarde (I study Spanish at seven in the evening);
- Estudio español los lunes por la noche (I study Spanish on Monday evenings);
Now
you should practise answering the question:
¿Cuándo
estudias español?
