This
post showcases/ highlights a typical use of the verb dar*.
SCENARIO
Imagine
you are talking to a relative, a friend or a work colleague about a
project you are working on.
At
some point, the other person says:
"will
you get that project going?"
In
Spanish, the other person could choose to be less formal and say:
¿Vas
a darle caña a ese proyecto?
Alternatively,
he/ she could choose to be more formal and say:
¿Va
usted a darle caña a ese proyecto?
OUR
TIP
Answering
this question should be straightforward. A yes/ no may be sufficient.
However, you may use the expression dar caña to make
your answer more informative.

- Sí, tengo que darle caña (yes, I have to get it going);
- Sí, debería darle caña (yes, I ought to get it going);
