This deals with handling telephone calls, and in particular identifying yourself to a caller.
SCENARIO
Imagine
you call someone on the phone.
Having exchanged the customary greetings, the other person says
: "who
is speaking?"
In
Spanish, the other person could say:
¿Con
quién hablo?
OUR
TIP
Responding should
be quite straightforward. However, before you reply, you should
decide how you are going to refer to yourself*.
If you are a male
(name, Peter Brown) and you want to refer to yourself in a formal
manner, you could say:
- Con don Peter Brown (Mr. Peter Brown);
- Con el señor Brown (Mr. Brown);
Notes
Now
you should practise answering the question:
¿Con
quién hablo?
