La palabra de hoy es: 'menos' = less or the least. In Spanish, 'menos' is used to indicate a 'superlative' or to make comparisons. When making 'less than' comparisons in Spanish there is a choice of expressions, i.e.: 'menos de' or 'menos que'. The choice depends on the next word, i.e.:
  • If the next word is a number, the 'menos de' should be used
  • In all other cases, 'menos que' should be used
  • Los que menos pelo tienen en la cabeza son los calvos (Bald people have the least hair)
  • Vimos menos de diez persona (we saw less than ten people)
  • Pedro es menos joven que yo (Pedro is older than me)
