Introduction
This
post deals with talking about the future
in general, and more specifically with stating the
time
at which a flight will
arrive.
SCENARIO
Imagine you are talking to a relative, a friend or a work colleague about a flight you have planned or you are both just about to catch. Wanting to know when the flight will arrive, the other person says to you: "at what time will the flight arrive?"
In
Spanish, the other person could say:
¿A
qué hora va a llegar el vuelo?
OUR

The
question is an invitation for you to say at what time the flight will
arrive.
Just make sure that you use the right time expression*.
Here
are some examples of how you could reply:
- Va llegar a la una y media (it is going to arrive at a half past one)
- Llegará a la una y media (it will arrive at a half past one)
- Va a llegar a las cinco y diez (it is going to arrive at ten past five)
- Llegará a las cinco y diez (it will arrive at ten past five)
- Va a llegar a las siete en punto (it is going to arrive at seven o'clock)
- Llegará a las siete en punto (it will arrive at seven o'clock)
- No sé a qué hora va a llegar (I don't know at what time it is going to arrive)
- No sé a qué hora llegará(I don't know at what time it will arrive)
*Notes
Please
note the two typical ways of expressing the future in Spanish:
- Va a llegar... (it is going to arrive...)
- Llegará... (it will arrive...)
Please
note also the difference between the expressions of time used in
these answers and typical expressions used in telling the time, such
as:
- Es la una y media (it is half past one)
- Son las dos y veinte (it is twenty minutes past two)
- No sé qué hora es (I don't know what time it is)
